Silicon Carbide Ceramic Arms
The Semixlab Silicon Carbide (SiC) Ceramic End Effector is a next-generation wafer handling component engineered for 300mm (12-inch) wafer manufacturing and advanced nodes (<7nm). Crafted from high-purity, fully densified SiC with ultra-precision diamond grinding. Designed to minimize settling time, eliminate residual vibration during high-speed moves, and prevent particle contamination, Semixlab SiC Arms empower semiconductor OEMs and Fabs to maximize machine WPH (Wafer Per Hour) and overall Yield.
Description
Product Overview
As semiconductor chipmaking advances into 3nm/2nm logic nodes and high-density 3D NAND architectures, wafer transfer systems face extreme challenges regarding particle control, cantilever deflection, and vibration settling time. Traditional aluminum alloys and alumina ceramic arms fall short in high-frequency, high-temperature, and corrosive plasma environments.
Semixlab Silicon Carbide (SiC) Ceramic End Effectors are fabricated using high-purity reaction-bonded/recrystallized SiC, processed via state-of-the-art diamond precision machining and intricate micro-channel routing. Acting as the ultimate "skeleton and fingertips" for wafer handling, Semixlab SiC Arms significantly reduce Wafer Swap times, eliminate particle shed, and maximize machine Throughput and Yield across Lithography, Etch, CVD/ALD, and Thermal Processing equipment.
Key Advantages & Features
1. Ultra-High Specific Stiffness for Sub-Micron Settling
Featuring a Young's Modulus of 420 ~ 450 GPa and a lightweight density >3.10g/cm3, Semixlab SiC offers superior specific stiffness compared to Alumina and aluminum alloys. Residual vibration during high-speed Pick & Place operations is virtually eliminated, reducing settling time by over 60% and enabling maximum WPH.
2. Outstanding Plasma & Chemical Corrosion Resistance
In the presence of aggressive etch gases (such as NF3, CF4, Cl2) and high-energy reactive plasma, Semixlab SiC exhibits near-inert chemical stability. It eliminates surface degradation and flaking, protecting sensitive wafers from metallic ion (Al, Fe) and micro-particle contamination.
3. High Thermal Stability & Zero Thermal Deformation
With a low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) that closely matches single-crystal silicon, combined with superior thermal shock resistance, Semixlab SiC arms maintain sub-micron dimensional stability without creeping or warping when entering 400 C ~ 1000° C+ process chambers or during Rapid Thermal Processing (RTP).
4. Custom Micro-Fluidic & Vacuum Clamping Designs
Supports vacuum chucking, Bernoulli non-contact handling, and Edge Grip (EBR) configurations. The dense, pore-free ceramic structure allows internal micro-airways to be integrated without vacuum leakage or pressure loss.
Why Choose Semixlab?

Applications
Target Application Scenarios
Semixlab SiC Ceramic Arms are fully integrated into mainstream front-end semiconductor processing equipment:
Lithography & EUV Systems: Used in EUV / ArFi scanners and EFEM modules. Ultra-high stiffness minimizes residual vibration during transfer to ensure maximum alignment accuracy and throughput.
Dry Etch Chambers: Used as transfer arms between Loadlock and Main Chambers. Resists direct plasma bombardment and halide gases, preventing etch-induced particle generation.
Thin Film Deposition (CVD / ALD / PVD): Reaches directly into 400° C ~ 800° C vacuum deposition chambers without thermal warping or vacuum leakage through internal channels.
Thermal Processing (RTP / Diffusion / Anneal): Withstands extreme heating/cooling rates (> 100° C/sec). Maintains flatness at 1000°C+ to prevent wafer slip and warpage.
Wet Cleaning & CMP: Resists aggressive acids (SPM, HF) and abrasive slurry chemicals, avoiding cross-contamination during wafer handling.
