Innovative Materials Empowering a Green Future: Semixlab Deeply Engaged at SNEC 2026 PV Expo, Leading the Industry with Core Coating Technologies
2026-06-12
Semixlab Technology Co., Ltd. (Zhejiang Liufang Semiconductor) has completed a C1 financing round of over RMB 100 million, jointly invested by Beijing Canglin Capital and Zhuji Industrial Investment Group. Funds will go toward new product R&D and capacity expansion. The company’s new 100-mu manufacturing base is scheduled to start production in December 2026.

Semixlab CVD-SiC coated epitaxial susceptor (tray)
The epitaxial tray looks ordinary, yet it is a critical bottleneck in wafer manufacturing. During chip production, wafers sit on SiC-coated carriers that must endure temperatures above 1,000 °C and repeated corrosive gas exposure. Coating quality, consistency and lifetime directly decide epitaxial uniformity and final yield. For years this “tray” was controlled by overseas suppliers such as Tokai Carbon, Ferrotec, CoorsTek and Entegris.
Dr. He Shaolong, a Zhejiang University Physics PhD, turned this tray into a domestic mainstay. After graduating in 2005, he conducted research in Japan, later joined the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and in 2016 moved to the Ningbo Institute of Materials. In 2018 he founded Semixlab in Zhuji. By 2025 the company had moved from domestic substitution to becoming a primary supplier of SiC-coated susceptors for LED chip epitaxy.

The financing supports a clear move from trays into higher-barrier process components. Beyond epitaxial susceptors, Semixlab now offers gas-distribution barrels, silicon epi trays, LED epi trays, and CVD solid SiC focus rings and edge rings for advanced plasma etch tools. Focus and edge rings rank among the higher technical barriers in semiconductor SiC consumables—exactly where demand is rising as 3D NAND pushes past 300 layers and AI chip capacity expands.
The new plant will decide next-stage delivery capability. The 100-mu facility is expected to begin production in December 2026. While global CVD-SiC components remain led by overseas players, the Chinese market has entered an accelerated “qualification–import–volume” phase. Semixlab is racing this window alongside other specialized materials companies.

Dr. He’s path is the quiet version of hard-tech entrepreneurship. No star-founder hype—just starting from one coating and one tray, then steadily chewing through bottleneck segments. The RMB 100 million-plus capital adds certainty, yet also puts the next tests on the table: can new high-barrier parts complete customer qualification, and can the expanded capacity deliver inside the demand window?
